Introduction

On March 13th, 2009, I bought my own domain name. This was perhaps the biggest mistake of my life, what with being woefully unprepared  for the big, scary world of webmastering and all. 1 year, 1 month, and 12 days worth of blocking this particular blunder from memory later, and things are looking up. I still haven’t the foggiest idea as to what things like “MySQL” and “DNS” are (let alone precisely what the hell I’m supposed to be doing with them) but I somehow managed to connect WordPress to my domain name, about which I’m ecstatic. Perhaps one day soon I’ll stop stumbling onto success and arrive at being able to figure these things out for myself confidently. Until then, I have a perfectly functional (albeit incredibly basic) website, which is good enough for me.

It may be crude, but frankly it’s no less sophisticated than a blogspot page, and at least such a label is no longer part of my URL. In the coming days, I’ll be transferring my body of work, including all my articles and reviews, to this site. The blogspot will stay as it is since that’s not going to expire anytime soon (I’ve only got 11 months left in my plan). I’ll also try to create a more appealing and singular site, and update more often since I’ve got tonnes more control over this place, and thus tonnes more indexing options.

It took me over a year, but I’ve finally got this thing off the ground. Looks like that hosting plan wasn’t a waste after all…
